Allowed Use Policy
A clear guide to what types of events are encouraged, permitted with conditions, restricted, or prohibited on EventSpace.

Low Risk
Encouraged — No special conditions
These event types are fully supported and encouraged on EventSpace. They typically involve small groups, low noise levels, and minimal risk to the property.
Small Gatherings (Under 20 People)
Intimate get-togethers, dinner parties, game nights, and casual hangouts with friends or family.
Workshops
Art classes, cooking workshops, craft sessions, yoga classes, wellness retreats, and educational seminars.
Business Meetings & Retreats
Team meetings, off-site strategy sessions, brainstorming retreats, and professional networking events.
Cultural Experiences & Dinners
Cultural celebrations, themed dinner parties, wine tastings, and community dining events.
Study Groups & Book Clubs
Academic study sessions, book club meetings, reading groups, and discussion circles.
Baby Showers & Bridal Showers
Intimate celebration gatherings for expecting parents or brides-to-be with close friends and family.
Kids' Birthday Parties (Supervised)
Birthday celebrations for children with adult supervision at all times. Must comply with the venue's rules for minors.
Medium Risk
Permitted with Conditions
These events are permitted but come with additional requirements. Guests must confirm they meet the stated conditions when booking. Hosts may add further conditions specific to their venue.
Birthday Parties (20-50 People)
Larger birthday celebrations for adults or teenagers.
- Must stay within the venue's listed capacity
- Music must comply with local noise bylaws
- Designated point-of-contact must be present
Engagement Parties
Celebratory gatherings to announce or celebrate an engagement.
- Guest count must match the booking
- Alcohol service requires valid Smart Serve
- Clean-up must be completed by checkout
Pool Parties
Gatherings that include use of the venue's pool or water features.
- A responsible adult must supervise pool area at all times
- No glass containers near pool
- Children must be supervised by adults
- Guest assumes all risk of water-related activities
Graduation Celebrations
Parties and receptions to celebrate academic milestones.
- Guest count must be confirmed in advance
- Noise levels must comply with local bylaws
- Event must end by the listed cutoff time
Corporate Events
Company parties, product launches, team celebrations, and networking events.
- Organizer must be identified as the responsible party
- Any catering must comply with food safety regulations
- Vendors must be coordinated with the Host
Photography & Film Shoots
Professional or semi-professional photo and video shoots at the venue.
- Crew size and equipment must be disclosed in advance
- No structural modifications to the property
- Lighting and electrical requirements must be discussed with Host
- Host permission required for any commercial use of images
High Risk
Restricted — Requires Prior Approval
These event types require explicit approval from both the Host and EventSpace before booking. Submit a request through the platform at least 14 days before the event date.
Large Weddings (100+ Guests)
Wedding ceremonies and receptions with more than 100 attendees.
- Must provide event coordinator or planner contact
- Proof of event insurance may be required
- Full vendor list must be submitted for Host approval
- Parking and traffic plan required
- Sound management plan required
Late-Night Events (After 11 PM)
Any event that extends past 11:00 PM local time.
- Must comply with municipal noise bylaws at all times
- Neighbours must not be disturbed
- Host must explicitly approve late-night use
- Quiet hours must be observed as mandated by local bylaws
Events with Alcohol Service
Events where alcohol will be served, whether BYOB or by a licensed bartender.
- Smart Serve certified server required if alcohol is being served (not BYOB)
- AGCO licence required for commercial alcohol service
- No service to minors under any circumstances
- Host must approve alcohol at the venue
- Responsible service practices must be followed
Open / Public Events
Events open to the general public, including ticketed or free admission events.
- Guest list or ticket system required for access control
- Security personnel may be required
- Municipal event permits may be required
- Public liability insurance may be required
Live Music / DJ Events
Events featuring live bands, DJs, or amplified music.
- Sound level must comply with municipal bylaws
- Sound measurements may be required
- Music must end by the time specified in the booking
- Soundproofing or indoor-only music may be required by Host
- Neighbours must be notified in advance
Prohibited
Not Permitted Under Any Circumstances
The following activities are strictly prohibited on all EventSpace venues. Violation may result in immediate event termination, forfeiture of security deposit, full booking charges, and permanent account ban.
Events Exceeding Listed Capacity
Hosting more guests than the maximum capacity stated in the listing. This is a safety violation and may be illegal under local fire codes.
Illegal Activities
Any activity that violates federal, provincial, or municipal law, including but not limited to drug use, underage drinking, gambling, and any other criminal activity.
Events Without Host Knowledge
Using the space for events or activities not described in the booking, or allowing additional events or gatherings not included in the original reservation.
Commercial Subletting
Subletting, sub-hosting, or renting the venue to a third party. The Guest who made the booking must be the event organizer.
Dangerous Activities
Fireworks, open flames (unless explicitly approved by Host), firearms, weapons, explosives, or any inherently dangerous activities not covered by the booking.
Discrimination
Events that promote hatred, discrimination, or violence based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected ground under the Ontario Human Rights Code.
Property Damage
Intentional damage to the venue, including but not limited to graffiti, vandalism, unauthorized modifications, or removal of property.
Enforcement
EventSpace takes policy violations seriously. Depending on the severity of the violation, consequences may include:
First Offence
Written warning, potential security deposit forfeiture, and a review of the incident
Second Offence
Temporary account suspension (30 days), full booking charges, and mandatory policy acknowledgement
Severe / Repeated
Permanent account ban, full financial liability, and potential referral to law enforcement
